Founded by Dr. Zafer Sawaf, a distinguished chemical engineer with a Ph.D. from Purdue University, LAMA began its journey of innovation in asphalt-based products. Dr. Sawaf’s extensive experience, including his tenure as Secretary-General of the Arab Standards and Metrology Organization (ASMO) in Jordan, played a key role in shaping LAMA’s commitment to quality and industry leadership.

In 1985, LAMA achieved a significant breakthrough, becoming one of the first producers of waterproofing membranes in the Middle Eastern region.
